The Challenge

What we were up against.

Belle Maison sells to trade buyers, not shoppers, and trade buying does not fit a normal storefront. Different accounts pay different rates, buyers order the same items repeatedly in large quantities, and most purchases start as a quote rather than a checkout. All of that was being handled by hand: a buyer messaged on WhatsApp, someone looked up that account's agreed pricing, typed a quote, and re-entered it again as an order once approved. It worked, but it tied every order to a person being available, and it left no record a buyer could serve themselves from.

Our Approach

How we attacked it.

We started from how the business actually sells rather than from a storefront template. That meant mapping the account tiers, the products that repeat, and the path a quote takes before it becomes an order. Commerceflo was the right base because quote-to-cash and account-based pricing are native to it rather than bolted on, which keeps trade logic out of custom code. We structured the catalog so trade buyers can find items the way they ask for them, and set pricing to resolve per account at login.

What We Built

The solution we shipped.

The storefront shows a logged-in buyer their own contracted pricing, not a public list price. Buyers build a basket, raise a quote, and that quote carries through to an order without being retyped. Repeat ordering is account-based, so a returning buyer works from what they actually bought before. The catalog is structured around the categories trade buyers search, including artificial plants, flowers, flower runners, home decor and LED lighting.

Manual Re-entry

Belle Maison's trade buyers can now price and order themselves instead of waiting for a quote to be written by hand, and the step where a quote was re-entered as an order is gone. We have deliberately not published revenue, conversion or SKU figures for this build. The previous version of this page carried numbers that were never measured, and we would rather show the work than quote a figure we cannot stand behind.

We were live in 6 days, I genuinely did not believe that was possible. The design is stunning, the WhatsApp integration brings in inquiries every day, and the site has stayed lightning fast.

Frequently asked

Questions about the Belle Maison project.

What is quote-to-cash, in plain terms?

It is the whole path from a buyer asking what something costs to you getting paid. In wholesale that path usually breaks in the middle, because the quote lives in a message or a spreadsheet and someone has to retype it as an order. Quote-to-cash keeps it as one continuous record.

Why not just use a normal ecommerce store?

A normal store shows one price to everyone and expects instant checkout. Trade buying does not work that way: pricing is per account, quantities are large, and an order often needs a quote and an approval first. Forcing that onto a retail storefront usually means bolting on apps that each hold a piece of the truth.

Why Commerceflo rather than Shopify or WooCommerce?

Account-based pricing and quote-to-order are native to Commerceflo rather than added by apps. For a distributor whose pricing differs per buyer, keeping that logic in the platform rather than in custom code is what makes it maintainable.

Does this work for a catalog that changes often?

Yes. The catalog is structured around trade categories rather than one-off product pages, so adding or retiring lines does not mean rebuilding navigation. That matters for seasonal ranges, which is common in decor and lighting.

Can buyers still order the way they always have?

Yes, and that matters more than it sounds. Trade buyers who prefer to message still can. The portal removes the requirement that every order goes through a person, rather than removing the option.
